CURRENT Impact
We know that our approach works - by working with individual girls and families, partnering directly with schools, and engaging with the broader school and local community, program participants shared that.
* 80% of students demonstrated higher self-esteem, a drive to pursue their dreams, and a willingness to support their peers.
* 50% of girls who participated are interested in becoming mentors to peers and program advocates, and
* 70% reported committing to their health and school because they believed it to be their only way to success.
It can be difficult to measure internal impact - how people feel and what future actions they may take to better their lives. These survey results are encouraging and validate our approach. We also tracked progress made on our community engagement efforts through partnerships with the Ministry of Health, key HIV NGOs, HIV activists, and advocates to ensure comprehensive, high-quality, and effective HIV prevention and education programs were delivered. Our Facebook page, as part of the mass media strategy and use of social media, has grown by more than 25,000 followers in the first seven weeks of the program.
